I got a bad taste in my mouth for apple products trying to migrate from commodore programming to apple II programming many years ago...It is good to see apple has made a strong move in the posix direction and I'm starting to consider their products...but I'm not an owner of an iphone or any other apple product. However, if the iphone came standard with netshare capabilities on a national network with an unlimited data plan, I would be proud to join back up with the apple family. But it looks like apple is up to its same ole same ole games, living in AT&T's hip pocket instead of in the customer's pocket. Will apple ever be customer centric? Don't count on it. They're just moving from being adobe's whipping boy to at&t's whipping boy, and we all know at&t is nobody's friend. In the mean time, you can grab yourself a prepaid phone for $30 from a company like boostmobile and have unlimited (albeit nextel=slower than the at&t network) data for about $10 a month that you can use on phone with Opera-mini or tether (with only a $5 cord off ebay and no software needed) to your laptop, linux or symbian pda, or windows subnotebook, all of which cost the same or less than an iphone. Exactly why should anyone want an iPhone? it's not for the apple customer service (Blocking useful apps from you? how nice) and its not for at&t service (surcharges anyone? hidden internet fees? passing on the blame for hidden fees from third party at&t contracted providers and billing you anyways? signing you up for two year contract extensions you didn't ask for? transferring you back and for from one service to another with contract extensions and reduced services, while claiming its a corporate thing? the joys of at&t/cingular/at&t customer service)
