Personally, I have always disliked the shuffle due to its lack of a screen. No I can hate this one due to its lack of screen and lack of buttons. Now, no buttons isn’t always a bad thing, especial in the case of the iPod Touch or iPhone, but here its stupid, because you are forced to you the uncomfortable, cheap, iPod headphones with remote, and memorise a bunch of button press combos in order to control the thing. Check out Dan’s article for more details. The new shuffle comes in grey and black, with 4 GB of memory for $79. It’s about the size of a stick of gum and has a new “VoiceOver” feature that reads you the song title and menu options, and sounds about as good and the Kindle 2’s text to speech voice. But hey, apple has to make money somehow. The good news? 1 GB Gen 2 shuffles are still on sale for $50, and it has buttons! Oh, and I must mention Harry McCracken of Technologizer’s idea for a shuffle case… the iPez! Go take a look! [...]

I know you don’t want to permanently damage a collectible, but if you could somehow drill a hole in the back of the head… Just big enough for the wire to come out. Bonus points if there’s either a Neo (Matrix) or Kusanagi (Ghost in the Shell) Pez dispenser.
