Phone gossip/rumor/scuttlebutt/leak kingpin Boy Genius has a post at his site reporting on what an AT&T exec is supposedly saying about the next generation iPhone. BG says the tidbits he’s reporting are 100% confirmed. But they’re also, well, 100% obvious:
Boy Genius himself–who isn’t always right, but who unquestionably has some great sources within big companies–says that some of this stuff is not news. Despite his promise of 100% confirmation, I’m not assuming it’s all going to come true, either–the new iPhone’s schedule could slip, or it could turn out to be no faster than today’s model. Here’s hoping that the next iPhone, whatever it is, is worthy of gossip that’s more scintillating than this–in other words, that it’s something more than an iPhone 3G that’s a little thinner, a little sexier, a little faster, a little cheaper, and preloaded with the 3.0 software…

Faster could just refer to more efficient software.

Basically; a new iPhone is probably coming out in June that will be better than the previous.

Only 3 more months of good ole iPhone rumors. Yet each new one makes my 3G look old and outdated. So Sad.

My second N95 has broken, same problem – so I really want a new phone. Looks like I will have to wait until the summer.
I hope we get a decent camera, and one on the front.

I’d doubt that they would put a camera on the face of the phone. It doesn’t seem like something Apple would do.

Considering the Pre is getting a lot of buzz, i wonder how the pricing scheme will change for the iphone since Sprint has one set price for phone/data/messaging, and iphone is phone + data + messaging lol

I’ve got information from (I think) is a reliable source that in June the iPhone will become available unlocked, in other words, for any carrier. I got this info from my wireless carrier whom I have been with for 14 years. I had 3 lines all without contract and called them to tell them I was leaving for AT&T because I wanted an iPhone. The guy who was a senior support agent told me the iPhone would be available from them in June. He wouldn’t tell me anything more and would’nt tell me where he got his info but sounded confident about it.
Anyone else hear anything like this?
