Twitter is fine to send SMS to friends and family, but as an advertising medium for your business? I just don't think it's very professional to use Twitter to advertise your company. It's not "Trendy" if that's what you're thinking. Not when there are other professional alternatives that are sweeping the nation and will soon be in almost every business in America.

As a company, a professional business, why not go for an affordable solution like Clientxt, a company offering affordable texting rates with really cool features. They even have an unlimited text ad plan for a flat rate of $299 (more expensive than their less intensive plans).

Plus, while in your store, unless someone has easy web access on their phone (the kind where they can easily pull up a web browser and zoom in and out on the page - Like an iPhone) they'll have to go home from your business and remember to subscribe to you on Twitter. With professional text ad services, like Clientxt, your customers can opt-in (signup) to receive updates from you via SMS while their in your place of business.

If you're looking to step into the mobile marketing arena, the place to begin is with text message advertising. If you're aprofessional business, I suggest going with a professional sms ad service, like Clientxt.

I think this is an excellent example of social media marketing in action.
Twitter is loaded with self promoters in hopes of spreading their brand. To stand out from the crowd and be heard you need to be interesting, shocking, controversial or in Baum's case, reveal secrets.
Revealing his story bit by bit he built suspense. He pulled you in. Kind of like a good novel don't you think ;)
