I think he’s right for his time. With no foreseeable Internet there was no reason to lug even the most capable machine around. We scoff at the idea of a computer taking time from our sports page because the computer now is the sports page. Back then there was no indication it would be anything but a work horse. Don’t be so smug.

Windowing still isn’t very popular today. Occasionally people tile windows, but ‘windowing’ as we know it is primarily used to switch applications that have our full focus.

This is a common condition of the “technology” experts and goes back to when Galileo was ridiculed for saying that the earth revolved around the sun. Experts are never in doubt and frequently wrong.
