The prospect of a CDMA iPhone was never likely. Now that we know that Apple is going to be designing the chipsets for their future handsets (like the A4 in the iPad), it’s even less likely. The licensing situation for CDMA is different than for GSM, and as long as people are still switching to iPhones on AT&T by the millions (as they seem to be), there really isn’t any incentive to do a CDMA redesign just to pick up a few hold-outs.
