IE9 is Ready to Go

By  |  Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 7:50 am

Last night here at SxSW, Microsoft officially rolled out the shipping version of Internet Explorer 9. It’s available here for download, and very much worth checking out if you use Windows 7 (or, gasp, Vista). More thoughts soon, but it’s the best version of IE in years–and its release means that every major Web browser is a solid product. (In fact, in many ways they’re remarkably similar: Everyone’s settled on nearly identical browsers.)

If you try IE9, let us know what you think…

Sorry for the accidental down vote – I meant to click the "up vote" and I can't change it now…

I voted it back up to 0 for you.

I have (and like) IE9 (which I've been using in early forms for some time, off and on).

Harry, you should visit Technologizer with tracking blocking turned on. (I've disabled it for the site.) At least if your personal collection of trackers is like mine, the site falls apart.

(This will be the weapon of choice for the determined trackers, of course.)

Definitely encourage all to download and check out TRUSTe's Tracking Protection List here http://tracking-protection.truste.com/

I know that everyone has different experiences, but Chrome has been rock solid for me… doubt I would ever go back to the grief that is IE.

Browsing seems speedy now but load still takes a while. On my Win7 laptop, Chrome 10 seems to be better, starts faster and there seems to be little difference in the browsing. However, the Javascript speed is amazing, 458ms on IE9 versus 891ms for Chrome 10 using SunSpider 0.9.1!!!
