Better Windows Phone news: It now has 50,000 apps. Still way behind iOS and Android–and still with major absentees, such as Pandora–but enough to make it the third modern mobile operating system with a critical mass of third-party support.

Yes, 50K apps with around 49.95K being nothing more than amateurish crapware. What definition of ‘milestone’ would that situation fit in?

I'm here to echo what Collins has said. I bought a Samsung Focus as a backup should my iPhone get damaged, and while perusing the Marketplace I found it to be a wonderful example of why App Storess should be curated. I had to sort through quite a bit of junk to find something worth investigating. Angry Birds and Spotify won't cut it, and 1,000 "How to get chicks" apps for $1.99 won't do it either.
