Let me see if I understand: This kid is literate and capable of creating fancy computer graphics given it’s 1985, and he’s still a believer? Or is the world of Christmas-themed commercials one where everybody’s a believer?

In 1984, phones–even ones worthy of their own commercial–were still corded. Also, the girl in this commercial appears to be a bobby soxer who was cryogenically frozen in 1944 and thawed out four decades later.

Tiny Tim ably announces this Nobody Beats the Wiz spot.

At Circuit City in 1988, the most exciting wall of the store was still chockablock with smallish CRT TVs and VCRs, and “4-head” was one of the most pulse-pounding adjectives in the tech lexicon.
