How to Go Back to the Old Google

By  |  Sunday, May 9, 2010 at 10:26 am

When I wrote about Google’s redesign a few days ago, a couple of commenters grumbled that they didn’t like it. Over at Search Engine Land, Danny Sullivan says that there doesn’t seem to be a critical mass of unhappy campers out there, and that Google doesn’t plan to let users override the new version. But he does provide a trick–who knows how long it will last?–that lets you use the old, no-sidebar version.

Oh, and if you’re really nostalgic for earlier versions of Google, try this.

Just use adblock to block the sidebar.

I don't know where this new iGoogle, Google plus, or Google whatever, came from but I can't seem to get it closed down and get back to the one that has all my bookmarks (ie. favorites). I think bells and whistles are okay. But, very often and most often, and, in fact, all the time, I want my computer to be functional. All the social media and giddy fun stuff is okay if that's all you've got to think about. But, I want to my computer to serve me, not the other way around. HOW DO I GET BACK TO THE OLD VERSION?
