A year go, Laura Locke wrote about Tango, a video-calling app for iOS or Android that had signed up a million users in just a few weeks. That was impressive–but now it has more than 23 million members. Starting today, it’s giving them and new recruits a Windows version of the app.
The Windows version of Tango is interoperable with the phone ones. And rather than coming up with an all-new interface, the Tango folks did something unexpected: They gave it almost exactly the same look and feel as the iPhone one, as you can see in the screen above. It’s basically like having a virtual iPhone running Tango. (You can opt to remove the fake iPhone 4 trim, but even then, the app is very similar to the iOS incarnation of Tango.)
When the company gave me a peek at the Windows app, my instinct was “This is gimmicky, and I hope that Apple isn’t ticked off by it.” But it kind of makes sense. If you know how to use Tango on a phone, you know how to use it on Windows. (There’s no Mac version yet; the company’s still thinking about it.)
Tango competes with Skype and with Apple’s FaceTime, works over Wi-Fi and 3G/4G, is nicely done–and is free. If you’re one of those 23 million users, let us know what you think.

Unfortunately, they took this artwork right out of iOS Simulator for Mac OS X. The idea is a fine one of they make their own art. Me, I would make it much more subtle, just make a frame that suggests a phone, gives you context, but is a little easier to ignore if you want to. This would likely start to grate on you after a while, especially if the screen real estate was precious. It could be just a silhouette of an iPhone and would probably be better.

Who cares if Apple is "ticked off"? It's just another app.

I don't get how Apple gets ticked off by other app. They're being very selfish if they block the competing app from the users. i want to learn french
