The Albert Hoffman Award for Psychedelia: Rez HD

Rez HD is basically a rail shooter in which you shoot enemies along a set path. Except, this game quantizes every attack to a beat, matches them with evolving techno tracks and sets it all against multicolored, mysterious and futuristic backdrops. The title was first released for Sega’s Dreamcast and Sony’s Playstation 2 in 2002, and over time it cultivated enough fans and curiosity to warrant this downloadable acid trip for the Xbox 360. The creator of LSD, who died this year, gives the award in his name.
