Baseball Game

Patent filed February 6th, 1989

By 1989, the golden age of the handheld sports game was over. (In standalone form, that is–Nintendo’s Game Boy was released that year, and a baseball game shipped simultaneously with the system itself.) I don’t know whether this baseball game, co-created by Jay Smith (inventor of the legendary Vectrex) ever made it to toy stores. But the case design is nifty, and the game used audio to announce the gameplay as it happened.
