Back in June, I asked you guys to predict what Apple would announce at its WWDC keynote…and you did a better job than some professional Applewatchers. Wanna try your hand at outsmarting the pros when it comes to figuring out when it’ll announce its tablet computer, assuming it is in fact working on one?

It’s been years since Apple has announced new product of any kind. There was the iPhone/Touch two and a half years ago, but nothing exciting since then. They’ve upgraded their existing lines, added apps to the iPhone, but that’s about it. All they got in the pipeline is Snow Leopard, which is completely boring, and a new “music” announcement next month that people are so disinterested in that we haven’t even heard any crazy rumors yet.
It’s been speculated about for so long, and the general perception is that it’s going to happen, it’s just a question of when. If they don’t announce it by the next WWDC at the latest, their stock price is going to take a severe beating.

Tablet rumors have been floating around for years. But only recently have they started to become really thick. The same thing happened with the Intel switch. For years people predicted it, and for years people denied it saying it wouldn’t happen. Then BOOM, one day it happened. Leading up to the announcement rumors got really thick about it too. Somehow I have a feeling it is true and is real and will be released. But I don’t think it’ll be this year. I’m predicting January. Early next year. Not September. September will be all about the Zune HD killer iPod upgrades.

I may not know any insiders, but I know people who know insiders–and all signs seem to point to early next year.

I think they will announce a tablet called the iPad on January 27, 2010, with in store purchase available for April 3, 2010.
