@Tom: are you kidding? FireWire is still stuck at a theoretical 800Mb/s, and as far as I know, there are no plans to increase that in the near future.
USB 3.0, now available on premium motherboards, offers a theoretical 4.8Gb/s throughput, resulting in a real 3.2Gb/s (=400MB/s) throughput.
I agree with you that Apple does not seem to view Firewire as strategic– though it continues to be a great option for video transfer at least until this USB3 starts showing up on the shelves.

yes it is 😉 USB3 really changes the way we look at external drives: They can actually be just as fast as the internal ones!

Technically, 3.0 is a number, not a word. That leaves room for a 3rd really in the title, don’t you think?
