Gizmodo’s Take on the Devour

Gizmodo has reviewed Motorola’s Devour, an Android handset that runs version 1.6 of the OS even though the current one is 2.1. In other words, the darn thing is shipping as a loaf of day-old bread

    Oh, you and your loaf of bread. You do realize that the vast majority of users neither know or care what OS their phone runs, much less what version. All they care is that the phone does the things they want to do. There is a strength to offering a range of products with different emphases and at different price points.

    That said, this phone is overpriced…

    What’s the point of “offering a range of products… at different price points” if the price point is admittedly too high?

    Michael,

    My main point was that most users do not want/need/care about the “latest and greatest” in the same way that the people on sites like this do. This particular phone is not a good deal, but there are many others that are “day old loaves” that offer good functionality and price. My gripe is with the overall premise that every new product has to advance the state of the art or it is worthless to anyone.
