The Business Insider’s Dan Frommer says it’s in Microsoft’s own best interest to release a version of Office for the iPad. I agree. It would also be in the spirit of the company’s enthusiastic, early support for the Mac.

Except that enthusiasm actually turned out to be getting access to the Mac internals so they could clone it on the IBM PC.
I've used iWork on iPad quite a bit. MS Office is not needed, and Microsoft doesn't have the user interface chops to work on iPad. Making iPad apps is more like musical instrument design than computer programming.

There's no way I'd buy Office for iPad. Or for that matter ANY computer.
