When I switched from a MacBook Pro to a MacBook Air as my main computer, there were only three features I missed: the optical drive (occasionally), built-in Ethernet (very occasionally), and a backlit keyboard (fairly frequently). Not sure where you saw it–but if it was at @technologizer, the idea of that account is that it autoposts stories. It's like an RSS feed, and therefore not a good place to go if there are Technologizer stories you don't want to see….

I had the non-backlit kb MB Air 13" BTO and have had my new backlit kb 13" BTO Core i7, 1.8 GHz for about five days now. Battery life is definitely minimally affected if at all – I don't know how but I can still run the new MBA for hours and hours at almost full bright on screen and keyboard. I don't notice any decline at all.
