It’s easy to misremember DOS as being synonymous with “command-line interface,” but in its waning days it became surprisingly graphical. This patent dates from a time when it was A) pretty clear that Windows’ graphical approach would eventually supplant DOS’s more text-based interface, and B) equally clear that many people didn’t want to give up DOS just yet.
