Portable Information Device and System and Method for Downloading Executable Instructions From the Computer to the Portable Information Device

Filed August 9th, 1995

This is kind of amazing–it’s a PDA (with LCD screen and control buttons) in a floppy-disk case, so you could transfer data from a PC by popping it in a disk drive. It’s vaguely reminiscent of Franklin’s REX PDA, and I don’t remember Microsoft or anyone else actually selling it. It might have been quite successful until floppy disks started to vanish–which they did within a few years, thanks to Zip drives, CD burners, and the Internet.
